One last bit of fall

Before I can completely wrap up fall around here and show you all of the fun things we are doing around here for Christmas...I wanted to take a minute to show you how we spent those months I spent not blogging...

That day the boys even took a nap in the cab of the combine...they just slid down on the floor when they just couldn't take it anymore.  Most of the time, however, they were faces flat against the window.  They love riding on the combine.

Fun Links!

If I hadn't mentioned it before, Lydia was asked to be in a baby wholesaler's catalog at the end of May.  She did fantastic at the photo shoot and they decided to use the photos to update their local billboard.  She now looks at us daily as we go down the highway. 

We have had a fantastic weekend with family and friends.  I made the most delicious food...if I do say so myself.  I made Chicken and Dumplings this afternoon for lunch--and they were so good...the recipe is found here.  Also, from Comfy in the Kitchen, I made Cinnamon Chip Bread Pudding, with warm Vanilla Milk..you can find that recipe here, too.

I found some amazing and fun ideas for clothing for Lydia.  There are two cute dresses at this link that I plan to try in the next few weeks.

I found a delicious recipe for Marshmallow Cookies, like I need another dessert recipe to fix, but they look and sound oh so good!

I have posted this link before, but hope to get to it this week...I absolutely love this idea--Rain Gutter Bookshelves.

And finally, because we are gearing up for school...Color By Number Lowercase Alphabet.

Weekend Recap

We had a busy weekend around here.  Our town had it's local carnival and festivities, among them...a town wide rummage sale.  So, I spent quite a bit of time, over the last month or two, going through the boxes of stuff around here and trying to simplify.  I'm not quite sure if I was successful at the simplifying, but we did get rid of quite a bit of stuff!  My inlaws came to play with our littles and keep them occupied during the sale...and I am SO thankful they did! 

Friday they took them to the beach in a neighboring town and later that evening we went to the carnival and car show on our downtown street.  The boys got to choose a ride to do, Levi chose the big slide and Silas chose a train ride. 

Both were happy with their choice, even though Levi said it was a little scary.  Saturday, I baked in the sun...as I forgot to apply sunscreen!  The boys played with grammy and papa and on their bikes and went to the parade in the evening.  Silas even did some riding without his training wheels on!

It was a blast and they are still talking about the tractors, semis, firetrucks, and go carts in the parade...plus they came home with bags full of candy!  Sunday, after church, I made a new dish for lunch...it was amazing and I whole heartedly recommend Crescent Chicken. 

I served it with salads..it's easy, minimal ingredients...it's a keeper...YUM!  Today I am on clean up duty from the long weekend.  Doing laundry, dishes and getting order back from the chaos.  I have a lot to do in the garage, but intend to stay out of there for the week.

For tonight's dinner, I took a lasagna out of the freezer...from my recent freezer cooking marathon....an easy weeknight meal.  I pray you had a blessed weekend too!

Wordless Wednesday! (on a Tuesday...because I lost track of the days of the week)

Busy!

This week has been a "busy"week for us...I say that in quotes because to the rest of the world we don't even make a dent in a "normal" busy schedule.  Not to say that we don't do anything and sit around on our rumps all day, but we are being intentional about not cluttering our lives with "busy" and "chaos".  Life in and of itself is crazy enough and a family could easily never see each other if they let the "busy" take over too much.  Anyway, yesterday the boys had gymnastics in the morning, then we headed to a strawberry patch to pick some of our own...on the way we passed a garden stand and bought some tomatoes, zucchini, and some green onions, then a workout at the Y.  Today, the boys had their first eye Dr. appointments and passed with flying colors.  Tomorrow, we are going to stay home...(except for my afternoon workout) and cleaning, putting away laundry, doing school, and those other things that make up our day.  Thank goodness! 

I did however get the disk with our most recent family photos in the mail today...so, as promised, here they are...enjoy!
